Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates Gives Tadka To Millet 'Khichdi' Under Guidance Of Smriti Irani: WATCH

"This is great … India has untapped potential in its traditional vegetarian meals .. it should be projected to the world ..," wrote one user.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates lent his hand in cooking millet khichdi (porridge) with Union Minister Smriti Irani at an event organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development on Thursday.

The video, shared by Smriti Irani on the micro-blogging site Twitter, shows the billionaire philanthropist standing next to the minister who helps him prepare tadka for the khichdi. First, the minister pours oil into a cooking pan after which Bill Gates adds some ingredients to it. Soon the tadka is ready and mixed to the bowl of kichdi kept on the table next to the cooking stove. Towards the end, Mr Gates serves it in a bowl and tastes it and nods his head in satisfaction.

"Recognising the super food of India and its poshan component. When Bill Gates gave tadka to Shree Ann Khichdi!” read the caption of the post shared by the union minister.

Bill Gates was present at the event along with Smriti Irani to promote government's efforts in cultivation and consumption of millets as India is leading the initiatives for the International Year of Millets 2023.

Since being shared on Twitter by the union minister, the video has garnered over 5 lakh views, 8,757 likes and several comments.

One of the user on watching the video wrote, "Finally added the flavour to Kichidi. Kichidi is all about the final step of tadka. How humble of our union minister Mrs Smriti Z Irani and World's Business Icon Mr. Bill gates to be so grounded and nailed the thadka for a perfect Kichidi."

“Bill Gates announces mandatory khichdi for Microsoft employees,” wrote a third jokingly.

"This is great … India has untapped potential in its traditional vegetarian meals .. it should be projected to the world ..," wrote another user.

"If entire US learns making and starts eating Shri Ann Khichdi, they will be more fit people and farmers in India will be more rich people," wrote a fourth.
