Anand Mahindra Shares US Salesperson's Reaction To His 'Made In India' Phone, Tweet Goes Viral

"That's an impressive moment to share! It's exciting to witness the rise of India as a manufacturing powerhouse, and the choice to support locally-made products is commendable," commented one user.

After technology giants Samsung and iPhone, Google also unveiled plans to start manufacturing Pixel smartphones in India. The latest models will be rolled out in 2024. The announcement has been met with great enthusiasm by people in India. Industrialist Anand Mahindra has also reacted to the news by sharing an interesting story about his interaction with a salesperson in the United States over his made-in-India iPhone.

Mahindra took to X, formerly Twitter, and first re-shared a tweet by a page called Indian Tech and Infra that read, "Google to start manufacturing Pixel smartphones in India, beginning with the latest model which will be rolled out in 2024."

Then he tweeted about his interaction with a salesperson at Verizon store in the United States, where he had gone to get a local SIM card. Mahindra proudly recounted about informing the salesperson that his iPhone 15 was "Made in India."

"I recently was in a Verizon store in the U.S to get a local sim and proudly informed the salesperson that my iPhone 15 was made in India. It was a particular pleasure to see his raised eyebrows!" he wrote, adding, "I also have a Google Pixel. I will switch to the India-made version when it's out. So I'll be able to tell them my Pixel is made in India too... But there probably won't be any raised eyebrows at that time because by then, India will have been globally acknowledged as a manufacturing powerhouse," reads Mahindra's tweet.

Shared a few hours back by the business tycoon, the post has already amassed 1.5 million views, 23.1k likes and tons of comments.

"That's an impressive moment to share! It's exciting to witness the rise of India as a manufacturing powerhouse, and the choice to support locally-made products is commendable," commented one user on the post.
