Delhi police detained YSR Telangana Party leader YS Sharmila Tuesday for protesting in Delhi against the BRS government in Telangana. She staged a protest demanding action against alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project. The YSRTP leader said, "I am here today to throw light on the biggest scam in the country, the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project scam."

"India has seen many big scams. I am here today to throw light on the biggest scam in the country, the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project scam. We will march to the Parliament to show how big this scam is," Sharmila said as quoted by ANI.

In visuals shared by news agency ANI, the police can be seen escorting Sharmila into a white van as she, along with a few supporters, raised slogans against the KCR government.

Sharmila for the first time came up with the Kaleshwaram scam claims on October 2022. Stating that the tune of money involved is Rs 1.2 lakh crore, she then said, "Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project scam is bigger as it's not just virtual money but also physical money that cost the exchequer.
