Telangana: Midnight Raid At Congress Leader Madhu Yaskhi's Residence Sparks Protests

Supporters of Madhu Goud Yaskhi chanted slogans against the BRS and MLA Sudheer Reddy who is vying for re-election.

A midnight search by police was carried out at the residence of Congress leader Madhu Goud Yaskhi who is contesting the Assembly election from LB Nagar constituency in Hyderabad. The search soon evoked strong protest from Congress leaders. Yaskhi strongly objected to the police action and demanded that the officers produce a search warrant.

On Tuesday, tension ensued at Madhu Yaskhi's residence in Hayat Nagar when a team of police officials arrived for a search. Upon being informed that the search was prompted by a complaint about money distribution, the former MP insisted that the officers show the complaint.

He alleged that the police officials were acting at the behest of the ruling party. He said the police came without a search warrant and were not ready to show even the complaint received, as reported by IANS.

Supporters of Yaskhi chanted slogans against the BRS and MLA Sudheer Reddy, who is vying for re-election.

Madhu Yaskhi, also the chairman of the Congress campaign committee, asserted that the police harassed him and his workers under the influence of BRS leaders.

He contended that being unable to confront him in the electoral contest, BRS candidate Sudheer Reddy was resorting to police harassment. The Congress leader maintained that the police discovered nothing during the search.

Reportedly, Madhu Yaskhi announced his intention to file a complaint with the Election Commission, asserting that the searches were conducted without a proper warrant. Furthermore, he accused the police of intimidating his family and party workers, as reported by The News Minute.

Till now, the Income Tax department has carried out multiple raids especially in places linked to Congress candidates. The residence of congress candidates Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and senior leader Thummala Nageswara Rao were raided  by I-T officials.
