Telangana: Police Deny Permission For BJP National President JP Nadda's Rally In Hyderabad

North Zone DCP Chandana Deepti clarified that everyone should abide by the COVID-19 restrictions.

Hyderabad: The city police denied permission for a planned gathering by the Telangana BJP to protest the arrest of its party chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar, which is likely to include the party's national president JP Nadda.

North Zone DCP Chandana Deepti said permission was denied keeping in mind the COVID-19 restrictions on public meetings and rallies.

"On January 4 at 5 p.m., BJP President JP Nadda will attend a Candlelight Rally in Hyderabad to condemn the illegal detention of BJP Telangana President Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The rally would start at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Secunderabad and end at Paradise X Roads," Telangana BJP tweeted.

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay, who was arrested for staging a protest 'Jagarana Deeksha' last night, was produced in Karimnagar court on Monday. The tribunal remanded him for 14 days.

The BJP leader was arrested for violating Covid rules by staging a protest. He demanded that the state government should revoke GO 317.

Police refused permission for protests, citing strong directives from state and central governments issued in response to the rapid spread of the Omicron version, and detained Sanjay when he attempted to do so in violation of the regulations.

Condemning the arrests, Nadda stated that the BJP will use all democratic means available to combat the TRS government's dictatorial methods.

Meanwhile, Kishan Reddy, a union minister, visited the Karimnagar jail and spoke to Bandi Sanjay. Afterwards, he went to Sanjay's office and claimed that the MP and his followers were attacked by the police while peacefully protesting on the grounds.
