Telangana Government Forms Special Investigation Team To Probe MLAs Poaching Case

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government's action came a day after the Telangana High Court lifted the stay on the case on Tuesday.

The Telangana government Wednesday formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate TRS MLAs poaching case in which three alleged agents of BJP were arrested last month. Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand will lead the SIT. The squad would also include Nalgonda SP Rema Rajeshwari, Cyberabad DCP Kalmeshwar Shingenavar, DCP R Jagadishwar Reddy, Narayanpet SP N Venkateshwarlu, ACP B Gangadhar, and SHO Laxmi Reddy.

The state government issued a Government Order (GO) after the Director General of Police made a request to constitute the SIT in the public interest to carry out a proper investigation in an expeditious manner.

According to the GO, the DGP informed the government that because the case is sensitive, high-profile, and sensational in nature, requiring thorough scientific and evidence-based investigation in an elaborate manner. Officers with experience and requisite expertise with specific skill sets are needed to carry out the investigation.

Telangana Government Forms Special Investigation Team To Probe MLAs Poaching Case

In the TRS MLAs poaching case, Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma, a priest from Faridabad in Haryana, Simhayaji, pontiff of Srimanatha Raja Peetham in Tirupati, and Nandakumar, owner of a restaurant in Hyderabad have been arrested. As per the FIR, TRS MLA Rohith Reddy alleged that the accused offered him Rs 100 crore, and in return, the legislator had to leave TRS and contest as a BJP candidate in the next assembly elections.

The accused were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act and are currently under judicial custody.
