Telangana: Father Takes 3-Year-Old Daughter’s Body On Bike After Hospital Refuses To Provide Ambulance

The father took the dead body of his 3-year-old daughter on a bike for 65 kilometres since he did not have money for an ambulance.

The dead body of a 3-year-old girl was taken on a bike for approximately 65 km from the Mother & Child Health Centre (MCH) in Khammam district of Telangana after the hospital denied providing ambulance service. The man, Vetti Mallaiah, was from an Adivasi family and lived in the Khammam district's Kota Medepalli village of Enukuru Mandal.

Mallaiah took the dead body of his 3-year-old daughter on a bike for 65 kilometres since he did not have money for an ambulance and the Khammam government hospital denied providing ambulance service.

The Adivasi couple's daughter, Vetti Sukki, 3, was taken to the Enukuru government hospital, where the doctor declared that the girl's condition was critical and advised sending her to the Khammam government hospital. However, the girl died there while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

The girl's father reached his native village and informed his relatives. He borrowed a bike from his relatives in the village to move the girl’s dead body from the government hospital to Koththamedepally village. The family members of the deceased have alleged negligence by the government medical staff.

Earlier also, the incident of a child's dead body being carried on a bike was reported in Andhra Pradesh. A father was forced to carry the body of his son on a bike after ambulances reportedly refused to transport him to their home in Sangam village in Nellore district.

According to reports Sriram, 8, and Eshwar, 10, of Sangam in the Nellore district went to the Kanigiri reservoir canal and accidentally fell into it while playing. Family members rushed Sriram to a local hospital.

However, doctors declared Sriram brought dead. Sriram's father requested the hospital for ambulance services to take the body home. However, they denied the request citing some rules. The father took his son’s body on his two-wheeler.
