Earlier, in the day Telangana police detained the YSRTP leader and filed a case against her for allegedly making inappropriate remarks against the Mahbubabad MLA and BRS leader Shankar Naik. The police shifted her to Hyderabad, amid her padayatra, to avoid any law and order issues in Mahbubabad.

The police registered a case under IPC Section 504 and 3(1)r of the SC ST POA Act.

Addressing a gathering at Mahbubabad, Sharmila attacked Mahbubabad MLA Shankar Naik for not fulfilling the promises he made. "You made several promises and nothing has been fulfilled. If you are not fulfilling your premises, that means you are a kojja (castrate)," she said as quoted by news agency ANI.

The BRS workers staged a protest in Mahbubabad for her alleged derogatory remarks. The ruling party workers protested by burning the effigies of Sharmila and banners. The protesters sloganeered "go back Sharmila".

Earlier, the YSRTP leader slammed BRS government and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao after her padayatra was stalled by the party workers of ruling party. At a time when Telangana Chief Minister and party supremo has inaugurated the BRS office in Delhi, YSRTP chief YS Sharmila pointed out the high-level corruption called the party Bandit's Rashtra Samithi. She also slammed the CM calling him the richest bandit in the country.
