Telangana: Amid Surge In Cases, Govt Starts Door-to-Door 'Fever' Survey To Check For Covid Symptoms

During the ongoing survey, the Telangana government has purchased one crore home isolation kits to be distributed to persons showing Covid symptoms such as fever, cold and cough.

Hyderabad: Amid a surge in Covid cases, Telangana government on Friday initiated a door-to-door survey to identify patients with Covid symptoms and deliver free home isolation kits to them.

During the ongoing survey, the Telangana government has purchased one crore home isolation kits to be distributed to persons showing Covid symptoms such as fever, cold and cough.

According to a report on IANS, the medical and healthcare departments in Telangana began the survey in collaboration with the municipal administration, panchayat raj and other authorities, after the number of Covid cases in the state increased over the last three weeks.

Healthcare personnel in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other municipal corporations, municipalities, and gram panchayats went from door to door to check for symptoms such as fever, cold or cough.

The authorities concentrated their efforts in the GHMC and adjoining metropolitan districts of Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri which accounted for the majority of daily Covid cases in the state.

Meanwhile, hundreds of workers have been working round the clock to prepare the home isolation kits to be distributed throughout the state.

According to the pamphlet included in the kit, Covid positive patients have been advised to check their temperature every day, go for a six-minute walk at a regular speed and consult a doctor if the temperature persists or if they feel breathless after walking for six minutes.

Health minister Harish Rao said the 'fever' survey conducted last year during the Covid second wave yielded promising results, thereby, saving many lives. The drive garnered praises from the NITI Aayog and the economic survey report also cited it as a best practice, prompting the Centre to tell the other states to do the same, the health minister further added.
