Prophet Muhammad Row: BJP Suspends Telangana MLA Raja Singh From Party Over Derogatory Remark On Prophet

Raja Singh was arrested after violence erupted over his remarks in his latest uploaded video

Hours after BJP MLA Raja Singh was arrested by the Hyderabad police for his derogatory comments against Prophet Muhammad, Bhartiya Janata Party on Tuesday suspended the leader from his post.

The BJP Central Disciplinary Committee, in an order, said, "You have expressed views contrary to the party’s position on various matters, which is in clear violation of Rule XXV. 10 (a) of the constitution of the Bhartiya Janata Party."

"I have been directed to convey to you that pending further inquiry, you are suspended from the party and from your responsibilities/assignments if any, with immediate effect. Please also show cause within 10 days from the date of this notice as to why should you not be expelled from the party. Your detailed reply must reach the undersigned no later than September 22, 2022," the order concluded.

Meanwhile, The BJP leader faced flak from AIMIM leaders. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned the remarks made by Raja Singh. Earlier on Tuesday, Raja Singh was arrested after violence erupted over his remarks in his latest uploaded video.

As reported earlier, Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Ajmadullah Khan warned the TRS government of not getting votes from the Muslim community in the upcoming Assembly elections if not taken stern action against BJP's Raja Singh. The MBT spokesperson said that Raja Singh should not only be arrested but should be booked under PD Act and he should be punished with rigorous imprisonment for at least two years for his derogatory comments.

"If you are not taking stern action against Raja Singh, none of the Muslim votes will go for the TRS government in the upcoming 2023 Assembly elections," said MBT spokesperson, Ajmadullah Khan.
