Hyderabad: Two Muslim Women Held For Vandalising Goddess Durga Idol, Jesus & Mother Mary Statues

It is alleged that the women entered the pandal in the Chintal Basti of Khairatabad and vandalised the statue

Central Zone police of Hyderabad on Tuesday held two women belonging to the Muslim community for vandalising a part of Goddess Durga's idol, and later Mother Mary and Jesus statues. They were detained by Saifabad police after locals witnessed the scene and caught them.

It is alleged that the women entered the pandal in the Chintal Basti of Khairatabad and vandalised the statue. "One woman was also seen carrying a spanner. She tried to attack a local who tried to stop them. An investigation is still going on," said M Rajesh Chandra, DCP Central Zone, Hyderabad, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The Bajrang Dal activists protested against the incident and demanded a stern action against the culprits. Meanwhile, sources said that the women are mentally unstable.

"As the sources are claiming that the women are mentally unstable, we will refer her to a government hospital and after that, we will produce them in front of the magistrate. As per the medical expert report, the magistrate will give a judgment on this issue. We have booked them under IPC sections 153(A), 295, 295 (A), 451, 504, 34," said Central Zone DCP Rajesh Chandra.
