Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Electric Bus Catches Fire At Begumpet

The incident happened around 9 am near Begumpet Airport when the TSRTC bus was proceeding from Shamshabad to Jubilee Bus Station.

An electric bus of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) caught fire at Begumpet in Hyderabad on Friday. No one was injured in the incident.

Police suspect a short circuit caused the fire. The incident happened around 9 am near Begumpet Airport when the TSRTC bus was proceeding from Shamshabad to Jubilee Bus Station.

The bus driver stopped the vehicle after noticing smoke in the engine. The passengers were alerted, and they rushed to safety.

A fire tender immediately reached the spot and doused the flames. TSRTC officials have launched an investigation.

On Sunday, three persons, including a two-year-old child, died and nine others suffered injuries after a person sprinkled petrol and set them on fire inside a coach in Alappuzha-Kannur Express.

Two other passengers are said to be critical. The police recovered the bodies of the deceased from the railway track. The victims were identified as Rahmath, her niece, and another man named Naufeeq. 

After the incident, the accused jumped off the train and escaped from the spot. After a thorough investigation, police, in a joint operation with Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism cell and central intelligence agencies, arrested the suspect Saifi on April 4. 

On Thursday, Saifi was brought to Kozhikode. The authorities have started an investigation into Saifi's past. However, the police are yet to reveal other details about the case. 

The 24-year-old Saifi is currently undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Earlier, three buses of a private travel company were gutted in a fire in the Kukatpally area of Hyderabad. The incident occurred at a parking lot near the IDL Cheruvu area.

The Bharathi Travels buses that were parked there caught fire. The nearby drivers and staff reportedly attempted to extinguish the fire, but the flames quickly spread and engulfed three vehicles. As a precaution, four other buses were immediately moved from the area.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire, but by then the buses had been completely gutted. The police registered a case and began an investigation. The cause of the fire was not known. A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
