Five Iconic Telangana Structures Win 'Green Apple' Awards For Beautiful Buildings

The awards were given under the urban and real estate sector category for promoting 'best environmental practices'.

Five building structures in Telangana have been adjudged winners of the 'International Green Apple Awards for Beautiful Buildings' under the urban and real estate sector category by a London-based non-profit organisation. The awards were given by 'The Green Organisation' for promoting "best environmental practices".

Mozzam-Jahi Market (in the heritage category for excellent restoration and reuse), Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge (in the bridge category for the unique design), BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat Building (in the aesthetically designed office/workspace building category), Integrated Command Control Centre of Telangana Police (in the unique office category), and Yadadri temple -- abode of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy (in the excellent religious structures category) have been selected for the awards, an official release said.

"It is for the very first time that any buildings or structures from India are being awarded the prestigious Green Apple Awards, and Telangana gets the honour of receiving all five awards," a press release said.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed delight at the state government's efforts in building and renovating the five iconic structures that have received international recognition and awards. The Chief Minister highlighted that this was the first time any structure from India was awarded the Green Apple Environment awards.

Rao stated that the construction and renovation of different structures in Telangana were being carried out following the highest global standards and environmental norms, reflecting the aspirations of the people and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. The receipt of these awards serves as concrete evidence of the State’s commitment to these principles.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on June 16.

To receive these prestigious awards on behalf of the Telangana government, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar has been deputed. The Green Organisation, established in 1994 in London, is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to acknowledging, rewarding, and promoting environmental best practises globally, as mentioned in the release.
