OnePlus 12R To Get Biggest Battery Upgrade And LTPO 4.0 Display, Company Confirms Ahead of Launch

Unlike the OnePlus 11R, which had a restricted market presence, the OnePlus 12R will be available in more regions locations, including the European Union (EU) and the US.

We are days away from the launch of the OnePlus 12 series and the handset maker has confirmed that the OnePlus 12R will get the "biggest battery ever". OnePlus has used a fourth-generation LTPO 120Hz ProXDR display for the OnePlus 12R. However, the company is keeping mum on the screen size. Some leaks and rumours hint at a sizeable 6.78-inch panel. The inclusion of LTPO technology is pivotal, offering an adaptive refresh rate to enhance battery efficiency -- a trend observed in top Android smartphone models.

Outpacing its predecessors, the OnePlus 12R is set to feature a hefty 5,500mAh battery, which will mark a new milestone for the brand. Although specific details remian undisclosed, OnePlus enthusiasts can anticipate a thorough unveiling later this month, aligning with the likely debut of the OnePlus Ace series. The handset maker made the battery details officiaql via a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier in December, OnePlus officially announced the global and India launch of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 12, alongside the OnePlus 12R, on January 23. The OnePlus 12R will succeed the OnePlus 11R. As already seen in the teaser image, the OnePlus 12R is likely to bring notable enhancements, as compared to its predecessors. According to leaks, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to showcase a substantial design upgrade, and possibly incorporate a curved display and a glass sandwich design complemented by a metallic mid-frame.

Photography enthusiasts are likely to be delighted by the expected triple rear camera arrangement, said to include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The device may be powered by a robust 5,500mAh battery, supported by 100W fast charging, ensuring lasting performance.

The OnePlus 12R is expected to debut in Gold, Iron Gray and Cool Blue colour options. All the colours options have been teased already.

The OnePlus 12R is said to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 3. Notably, OnePlus has already confirmed that, unlike the OnePlus 11R, which had a restricted market presence, the OnePlus 12R will be available in more regions locations, including the European Union (EU) and the US. The launch of the OnePlus 12R to more regions signals OnePlus's extension of its R-series smartphones to a global audience, unlike the OnePlus 10R and the OnePlus 11R, which were exclusive to India market only.

Another premium Android smartphone series to look forward to this month is the Vivo X100 series. The devices will succeed the X90 lineup. The X100 Pro has already been released in the brand's home turf China, presenting itself as a robust smartphone. Following the trend of previous X series devices, the new X100 Pro is anticipated to be a camera-centric device, but it will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor, instead of a Snapdrgaon 8 Gen 3.
