Google Is In The Works Of Releasing Next-Gen Pixel Laptop, Here's What We Know

The upcoming Google Pixel laptop is expected to target the high-end market and may feature a sophisticated design.

Google is in the works of developing a premium Pixel-branded laptop, aimed at delivering high-end features and performance. According to sources, the company has assembled a dedicated team for the project and is planning to equip the device with advanced hardware. Unlike previous models, the new Pixel laptop might run on Android instead of ChromeOS. This device is expected to rival flagship laptops such as Apple's MacBook Pro and Microsoft's Surface lineup. The last Pixel laptop from Google, the Pixelbook Go, was released in 2019.

An internal email, cited by Android Headlines, suggests that Google is preparing to re-enter the laptop market with a high-performance offering. The device, internally codenamed "Snowy," is reportedly being positioned as a competitor to premium laptops like the MacBook Pro, Dell XPS, Microsoft Surface, and Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. Speculation indicates it will feature top-tier specifications, catering to users seeking a powerful and versatile laptop.

The upcoming device is expected to target the high-end market and may feature a sophisticated design. While early speculation indicated it might run on Chrome OS, a report from Android Headlines hints that the Pixel laptop could instead debut with a new version of desktop Android. However, no specific timeline for its release has been provided.

Comeback After A Long Time

This marks a significant potential return to the laptop space for Google, which last launched a Pixel laptop in October 2019. The Pixelbook Go, unveiled at the Made by Google event alongside other products like the Pixel Buds, Nest Wi-Fi, and Nest Mini, was the company’s most recent foray into this category.

Prior to that, the first Pixel-branded Chromebook debuted in 2013. The Pixelbook Go ran on Chrome OS and offered a range of configurations, including Intel Core M3 to Core i7 processors, 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and storage options from 64GB to 256GB. It featured a 13.3-inch display, catering to both casual users and professionals.
