Flipkart Republic Day Sale: Man Orders Laptop Worth Rs 1 Lakh, Receives Dusty & Old One Instead

Flipkart Republic Day Sale: Souro Mukherjee from Chhatarpur ordered an ASUS Vivobook worth Rs 1.13 lakhs during the sale but he received an old and dusty laptop from Life ZED brand.

A man from Madhya Pradesh fell prey to one of the oldest Flipkart scams. Souro Mukherjee ordered a laptop worth Rs 1.13 lakhs from Flipkart during the Republic Day sale but, he received an old and dusty model of another brand. Mukherjee ordered ASUS Vivobook Pro 16 OLED (2023) model's black variant whereas he received a laptop from a brand called 'Life'. Fortunately, he was recording the unboxing video which caught the scam on camera.

He took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to write, "I ordered a brand new Asus Laptop from Flipkart in this Republic Day sale and I received some old discarded laptop. Never trust products ordered from online platforms."

In the footage shared by Mukherjee, the delivery agent was unboxing the laptop and he was sharing his concerns about ordering such expensive products online. The first shock for him was that the laptop was silver in colour, however, when the protective cover was removed from the laptop, he realised that he had been scammed.

Flipkart Support took notice of the incident and responded to his tweet by writing, "We'd never want you to get anything but what you ordered and are extremely sorry about this instance. You can count on us to sort this out. Please help us with the order details so that we can look into it and assist you further. Awaiting your response."

The consumer had shared a screenshot of his order details. The e-commerce giant then tagged the screenshot and wrote, "Please do not share your order-specific details or personal details on this social platform as they are visible to all. Kindly reach out to us via DM to ensure your details are secure."

A person in the comments of the tweet suggested that there is a return policy to which Mukherjee replied by saying, "Yes they've cancelled first and now they are replacing my order."

Another person asked him about the name of the seller. He wrote, 'IndiFlash Mart' following which another user who had ordered a smartphone from that seller also cancelled his order.

Each year, both e-commerce giants Flipkart and Amazon trend for wrong reasons like these. There have been a number of cases when a consumer got a bar of soap in place of a brand-new smartphone or other gadget that he/she ordered. It is always advised to record the unboxing process so that if you receive a wrong product then you can show evidence to the customer support department and get a fair resolution.
