Apple WWDC 2022: New MacBook Air Expected To Sport Same Colour Options, With A Twist

Apple’s new MacBook Air may come with an iMac-inspired Dark Blue colour option.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is set to kick off later tonight, at 10:30pm IST. There have been several rumours that Apple may announce a new MacBook Air at the event. Adding even more weightage to the speculations, Bloomberg journalist and known Apple tipster Mark Gurman said that the new MacBook Air won’t be coming in a range of new colourways, but will sport the same standard colour options, along with a fresh twist which may include a new colour. Trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo showed his agreement with Gurman’s prediction on Twitter.

On May 5, Gurman tweeted that the new MacBook Air will not come in a range of “several colours”, calling the earlier rumours “probably exaggerated.” He said that Apple will launch its latest MacBook in Space Gray, Silver, and Gold colour options, which is the standard lineup. Gurman did add that the Gold colourway may not have the usual Rose Gold hue, but will be “more champagne like.”

So, while Apple may add a new twist to its Gold colourway, Gurman also suggested that the MacBook Air could come in a Dark Blue colour option as well, taking inspiration from its iMac counterpart.

Kuo shared Gurman’s tweet, saying, “The new MacBook Air (MBA) will more likely offer three standard color options and probably plus one new color, rather than the rainbow style like the iMac as the market expects.”

Kuo also added that shipment of the new MacBook Air models could be expected to be at six to seven million units in the second half of this year “if Quanta's Shanghai capacity can be back to pre-lockdown level before 3Q22.”

It should be noted that Apple hasn’t made any announcement regarding the launch of a new MacBook Air at WWDC 2022. However, the rumour mill suggests a new MacBook offering is possible. Additionally, the Apple Store went down just ahead of the keynote. This is usually indicative of a new hardware offering from the Cupertino giant. Still, this report should be considered with a pinch of salt.
