Man Tries To Troll Google CEO Sundar Pichai's Tweet On India's ICC T20 Win Over Pakistan, Regrets It Immediately

Pichai won the Twitterati's heart with his befitting reply.

Diwali 2022 is being celebrated across India and around the globe on October 24. Celebrities and popular personalities share their greetings on social media. Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Monday took to Twitter to wish his over 4.7 million followers a hearty Diwali. In his post, Pichai made a reference to India’s emphatic win over Pakistan in a nail-biting Super 12 clash during ICC T20 World Cup in Melbourne. A Twitter user decided to troll Pichai but instead ended up getting trolled himself.

What Did Pichai Tweet?

“Hope everyone celebrating has a great time with your friends and family,” the Google CEO tweeted as he wished everyone a happy Diwali. He went on to share that he ushered in the festival of lights by watching the intense IND Vs PAK clash, which ended with India emerging victorious in a thrilling last over, thanks to former captain Virat Kohli’s incredible knock of 82* off just 53 balls.

“I celebrated by watching the last three overs again today, what a game and performance,” Pichai tweeted.

What Was The Troll About?

If you haven’t seen the match, here’s a quick recap of what happened.

India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan managed to put up a total score of 159 runs with 8 dismissals. Now, in the second innings, India faltered a little in the beginning, losing the important wickets of KL Rahul and captain Rohit Sharma (with 4 runs each) in the first three overs.

Kohli’s smashing knock helped India get back on its feet. Everything boiled down to the last over, where despite losing the wickets of Hardik Pandya (40) and Dinesh Karthik (1), a sixer from Kohli and a no-ball (followed by a 3-run free hit) from Mohammad Nawaz saw India score 16 runs to clinch victory.

When Pichai posted about India’s win on Twitter, a user tried to troll the CEO by saying, “You should watch 1st three overs”, referring to the first few seemingly miserable overs from India’s innings.

What Did Pichai Reply?

Now, Pichai is not known to troll other users on social media. But just like India’s surprise comeback, Pichai, too, didn’t hold back this time and decided to offer a response to Shahzaib in his signature calm-yet-witty manner.

The Google chief simply said, “Did that too. What a spell from Bhuvi and Arshdeep”.

Here, he was referring to the dismissals of Mohammad Rizwan and Pakistan captain Babar Azam for 4 runs and a duck by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh, respectively, within the first three overs of Pakistan’s innings.

Pichai’s befitting reply went viral, seeing over 12,200 retweets and nearly 2,000 comments within a matter of hours.

How Are Netizens Reacting?

The Twitter troll did try to save face by clarifying that he meant to refer to the Team India innings, but to no avail. Other users offered light-hearted condolences (and sarcastic congratulations) for being trolled by the multi-millionaire CEO.

“Muhammad, take a screenshot of this reply, then Laminate it & Post it on Ur Living Room as a Million Dollar Painting,” tweeted a user while another wrote, “Mubarak ho, aap itne bade aadmi se troll ho gaye (congratulations, you got trolled by a person of such great stature)”.
