Here Is How Tamil Nadu Is Preparing For Possible Third Wave

Minister Anbarasan inaugurates new 200-bedded Covid treatment center at the Sriperumbudur Government General Hospital on Tuesday

Minister for Rural Industries TM Anbarasan inaugurated a special Covid hospital.

Chennai: With the second wave still wreaking havoc in the parts of Tamil Nadu, the Minister for Rural Industries TM Anbarasan said that the state is preparing for a possible third-wave outbreak, which is reported to be impacting children, and for that additional beds are being set up in hospitals. And a percentage of normal beds are being converted into oxygen beds in the government and private hospitals. 

The new 200-bedded corona special treatment center at the Sriperumbudur Government General Hospital in Kanchipuram District was inaugurated on Tuesday by the minister. Sriperumbudur Assembly Member Selvaperundagai has inspected the facilities.

He later told reporters that 625 oxygen beds were being introduced in the government general hospitals across Kanchipuram district. Similarly in private hospitals around 385 oxygen beds are being installed. Out of 2,324 beds in Kanchipuram district, 1,010 beds have been converted into oxygen beds and are available for public use.

There are reports that the third wave of Covid is on its way. To address this, the DMK government is rapidly increasing the availability of oxygen beds in all government and private hospitals.

The minister emphasized the importance of wearing masks, using disinfectants, adhere to social distancing and co-operate with the Government of Tamil Nadu in all preventive measures to transform Kanchipuram district into a Covid-free district. Kanchipuram MP K Selvam and many government officials were present at the event.

The number of corona virus infections in Kanchipuram district has dropped significantly in the last 2 weeks and the number of corona virus infections per day is less than 500.
