TN CM Stalin, Governor RN Ravi Spar Over Federalism, NEP 2020 At Vice-Chancellor's Meet
The two representatives have exchanged words amid the disagreement over national education policy and the anti-Neet bill.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and Governor RN Ravi exchanged heated words over issues of federalism and the education policy.
According to a report on IANS, Governor Ravi addressing the South Zone Vice-Chancellor's meet on Friday said, seeing the country through colonial prism only promoted religious imbalances in the country and did not eradicate poverty.
On federalism, he said, those who talk about federalism should understand that India isn't a 'contractual union of disparate people'.

He said, Bharat was like body parts and it cannot function outside the body. Universities that are places for knowledge dissemination should help in disseminating such knowledge.
Further, the Governor said that read around 30,000 doctoral theses and some were exceptionally good but many others were around a leader or an ideology. Hence, he opined that the researcher pursued Ph.D. just for the sake of getting a degree, said a report on Times of India.
In the same event, TN CM Stalin accused the union government of promoting regressive and backward ideas in the syllabus by taking advantage that education is in Concurrent List.

However, the people want universities to act as per the education policy of the state so VCs should understand and function accordingly, he said adding, the permanent solution for the issue would be to move education to the state list.
