Tamil Nadu: Villagers Near Kodaikanal Demand Action Against Culprits Who Set Ablaze Minor Girl Alive

Chennai: The residents of Kodaikanal resorted to a protest on Wednesday demanding stern action against culprits in connection with the death of a Class 5 girl of a Panchayat Union Middle School in Pachalur village in Tamil Nadu. The Class 5 student was found dead with a half-burnt body on December 15 hours after she went missing from the school.
According to a report on Puthiyathalaimurai, several protesters gathered at the arterial street of Kodaikanal and resorted to a protest. The police immediately rushed to the spot and detained the protesters on Wednesday.
On December 15, a nine-year-old minor girl went to school along with her elder sister but the child reportedly went missing. When the elder sister looked out for her during the lunch hours, the kid was not present on the campus. She immediately informed the teachers but they did not take any action, claimed the victims' sister.

The teachers just informed the parents who reached the school along with their village members and learned about the turn of events from their elder daughter.
Following this, they started to look out for the girl and after an intense search, they found her with burn injuries behind the school.
When the family rushed her to the hospital, she was declared brought dead on arrival.
The Dindigul SP VR Srinivasan along with other senior officials reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. However, there has been no development in the case.
A villager, Pechiyammal, talking to Indian Express said, the teachers did not act immediately and they did not even go near the child when her body was found. They left the father to carry the child without any help. Hence, the death of the child is a mystery and we want to know about the truth behind such an incident, he said.
