The SI, who suffered critical injuries, is currently receiving treatment at Chengalpet Government Hospital.

Chennai: A suspect, who was being taken to a police station in Chengalpet district by a sub-inspector of police on a two-wheeler, attacked the cop with a stone and fled the place on Thursday. In the attack, the SI suffered critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Chengalpet Government Hospital.

According to a report on Times of India, a 45-year-old Sub-Inspector Chandrasekar attached to Salavakkam police station confronted a suspect who was behaving strangely during his patrol in the area. The suspect reportedly acted like he was parking the bike and urinating while the SI approached him.

Hence, the SI started questioning the man but he kept giving contradictory answers.
