Tamil Nadu Police Seek Legal Opinion Into Woman's Complaint Against Doctor For Groping Her Mid-Air
The police officer investigating the case said that they are seeking a legal opinion as the alleged incident took place mid-air and that they don't want any miscommunication over jurisdiction.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu police are seeking a legal opinion into the sexual harassment complaint of a 35-year-old woman against a doctor from Thanjavur for groping her mid-air, on Tuesday. The woman alleged that she was groped by the doctor during a flight from Jeddah to Chennai.
According to a report on The New Indian Express, the woman boarded the flight in the USA and the accused boarded the flight while it landed in Dubai. The accused was also reportedly seated behind the woman.
In a series of tweets, the woman said that she was groped by the passenger who was seated behind her and once she realised the harassment she immediately confronted the accused. Later, she also said that she filed a complaint with the airline.

The woman also said, "The crew took away his passport and the captain informed the ground crew. Once we landed, there were CRPF jawans and ground airport officials to nab the accused."

A police officer who is investigating the case told IANS that the woman alerted the cabin crew after the incident who informed the airport police. The police took the passport of the Dubai-based doctor into custody and questioned him but he was let off as there was no complaint lodged till Tuesday.
The police officer told IANS that they are seeking a legal opinion as the alleged incident took place mid-air and that they don't want any miscommunication over jurisdiction.
