Farmer Leader Asks Centre To Bring Ordinance For MSP Law Ahead Of Sunday's Talks
On a related note, Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has put forth a crucial demand, calling on the Centre to introduce an ordinance ensuring a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), as reported by news agency PTI. This demand comes ahead of the fourth round of discussions scheduled for Sunday between union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, Nityanand Rai, and farmer representatives.
MSP is a key demand of farmers currently camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri points of the Punjab-Haryana border.
Stating that the Centre has a right to take "political" decisions, Pandher said, "If it (the Centre) brings an ordinance and it can bring it overnight, if it wants so. If the government wants resolution of farmers' protests, then it should bring out an ordinance with the immediate effect that it will enact a law on MSP, and then discussion can proceed further," as quoted by PTI.
Earlier in the day in Delhi, Family members of the agitating farmers also joined them to show their solidarity at the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border.
