Tamil Nadu: Muslims In Area Dominated By Community Donates Land For Hindu Temple

Three months ago, 'Rose Garden Muslim Jamaat' acknowledged the request and donated three cents of land, worth Rs 6 lakh, to their Hindu neighbours.

In a display of communal harmony, members of the Muslim community in Padiyur, Kangayam, have donated a piece of land and actively participated in the construction of a local Hindu temple. The Muslims donated 3 cents of land, valued at Rs 6 lakh, to their Hindu neighbours and brought gifts for the temple's consecration ceremony, which took place on Sunday.

The newly constructed Ganesh temple, located in Rose Garden, now stands as a testament to the unity between the communities. The project was made possible with a significant donation from the local Muslim Jamaat.

Rose Garden, predominantly a Muslim neighbourhood, welcomed a few Hindu families who built their homes there a few years ago. Mohammed Raja, a resident, shared with The New Indian Express that around 10 Hindu residents expressed their need for a temple and requested land in the layout, which is mostly owned by Muslims.

Kanagaraj, another resident, emphasised the harmonious coexistence of Hindus and Muslims in the area. He noted that the layout was initially promoted by two Muslims who allocated land for Muslim residents 20 years ago. Recently, when Hindu residents requested land for a temple, the community offered a piece of land.

The temple's construction was funded by Rs 10 lakh collected through donations from locals and the panchayat president. During the kumbhabhishekam ceremony, Muslim friends contributed Rs 30,000 for the 'annadanam' and brought 'Seer Varisai' as gifts, he said, according to the report.

Last year, Muslims welcomed Lord Srimushnam Poovaraga Swami during a procession in Killai of Cuddalore on the occasion of Masi Magam. The Muslims welcomed the process when it was near Syed Sha Rahmathullah dargah and handed over silk cloth, rice and coconut.
