Tamil Nadu: Flash Floods In Old Courtallam Waterfalls, Public Entry Prohibited — Video

According to ANI, Sudden flash flood at Old Courtallam waterfalls in Tamil Nadu's Tenkasi The public is prohibited from entering the waterfall temporarily. A team of Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Department is present on the spot.

The flash flood coincides with the forecast from the India Meteorological Department, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in southern and western Tamil Nadu until May 20. The weather department reported a cyclonic circulation over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent South Sri Lanka, currently situated over the Comorin area and adjoining South Tamil Nadu coast.

On Friday, IMD predicted, "Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur and Pudukkottai districts."

Meanwhile, the Nilgiris district administration has announced that very heavy rains are predicted from May 18 to 20 in Ooty. They have advised people to "avoid" visiting the popular hill station during this period.
