TN Governor Ravi Forwarded Anti-NEET Bill To Home Ministry For Getting President's Assent, Says CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu Anti NEET Bill: "I'm happy to inform that Governor's office informed me that TN Governor Ravi has sent Anti-NEET Bill to the Home Ministry for getting President's assent," Stalin said.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin informed the state Assembly that Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has sent a Bill readopted by the state against National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) to President Ramanth Kovind for his assent on Wednesday.

In the Assembly, TN CM Stalin said, "Tamil Nadu government readopted Anti-NEET Bill which was sent back by TN Governor RN Ravi in February. Following this, I also personally visited TN Governor and urged him to send the Bill to President for his assent. TN MPs also submitted a letter to the President's office regarding the same."

"As a result of all our efforts, I'm happy to inform that Governor's office informed me that TN Governor Ravi has sent Anti-NEET Bill to the Home Ministry for getting President's assent," Stalin said.

As a next step, he said, we all should unitedly work together to get the assent of the President.

In a historic move in February 2022, Tamil Nadu government unanimously readopted Anti-NEET Bill in a special session to revoke NEET for admitting undergraduate medical students to colleges in the state. 

The Tamil Nadu Assembly first adopted Anti-NEET Bill in September. However, TN Governor returned the Bill in February.

Earlier, Stalin talking about the Bill in February said that all the MLAs have gathered in the Assembly not only to discuss NEET but also to protect the integrity and rights of Tamil Nadu legislature. 

He also said that the MLAs have joined together to protect the cooperative federalism of the state before readopting the bill.
