Tamil Nadu Administered Covid-19 Vaccines To 2.49 Crore People: Health Minister
Chennai has topped the metros in the country by administering vaccines to as many as 33,43,276 people.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu has so far administered Covid-19 vaccines to about 2.49 crore people, said the Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma Subramanian on Monday. Chennai has topped the metros in the country by administering vaccines to as many as 33,43,276 people, he added.
A PTI report has quoted the minister as saying that a couple of districts in the state would vaccinate all its people soon and the state is heading towards achieving a milestone in covering more people under the vaccination drive.
Pointing out that Chennai has topped the metros by inoculating 33,43,276 people, the minister said that at least 23,72,964 people have taken the first dose and about 2,49,46,793 people have taken their jabs in the state, according to the report.

Inspecting a camp set up at the central railway station in the city to screen passengers visiting the city from Kerala, he said that about 277 passengers were subjected to RT-PCR test and others who had a negative RT-PCR test report and taken both the doses of Covid-19 vaccination were allowed to enter the state. The report, further, quoted the minister as saying that screening at all the entry points of the state including the airport in Chennai, was intensified.
The minister said that both the PPE kits and N95 masks were bought at a higher price during the previous AIADMK government. They had spent twice or thrice the sum to purchase the safety equipment and meal for covid patients and our subsequent action has resulted in saving Rs 20 crore to the state exchequer, he said, according to the report.
