DMK Deputy General Secretary Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan Resigns From Party, Says Will Retire From Politics
Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan Resigns: The Deputy General Secretary gave her resignation a day DMK announced its 15th organisational polls.
Chennai: DMK's Deputy General Secretary Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan resigned from the primary members of the party on Tuesday. She also officially submitted a letter along the same lines and expressed her wish to retire from politics.
In the official resignation letter, Subbulakshmi said, "I did not contest in the elections after my term as a parliamentary member came to an end in 2009. I also communicated my wish to continue with the party work to the then DMK patriarch Kalaignar Karunanidhi."
"After his demise, I did all the party works with the motive to help with the appointment of MK Stalin as the Chief Minister. In 2021, DMK received a thumbing victory. Stalin became the CM and he is doing all the works in a way that receives appreciation from across the country," she said.

Subbulakshmi said: "This gives me satisfaction and I want to fulfill my long-term wish to retire from politics with the same satisfaction. I have sent a resignation letter in the same effect to the CM on August 29."

Subbulakshmi Jagadheesan served as the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2004 to 2009. After her period, she did not actively participate in electoral politics but rather concentrated on party matters. She was also made DMK's Deputy General Secretary.
After a break, Subbulakshmi contested the polls in 2021 from Modakkurichi but she lost to BJP's C Saraswathi.
