The sub-inspector reportedly spoke to the villagers after a teacher of a government school informed him that 11 students from their vicinity, Tidir Nagar which falls under Paramasivam's jurisdiction, had not been coming to the school for a long time. The teachers also informed that the parents were not responding to the request of the school authority to send their children to school, said a report on The Indian Express.
Paramasivam who was from Madurai told The Indian Express that since he was from an economically challenged background he understood the value of education.
