Man Kills Doctor, His Wife In Chennai's Avadi, Cops Say Exposure Of Accused’s Porn Addiction Likely Motive

The bodies of the victims were found at their residence at Muthaputhupettil in Avadi on Sunday night.

A man killed a doctor and his wife in Avdi, in Tamil Nadu's capital city, Chennai. The accused was arrested by the police. According to the news portal OnManorama, the accused was identified as Mahesh (22) a migrant labourer from Rajasthan. He was arrested by the Greater Chennai Police on Monday for the murder of the Keralite couple living here.

The accused attacked with a sharp weapon and hacked to death the Malayali couple in Avadi, Chennai. The bodies of the victims, Sivan Nair (71) and his wife Prasannakumari (62) were found at their residence at Muthaputhupettil in Avadi on Sunday night. The accused, Mahesh, killed the couple after entering the clinic attached to the house under the pretext of seeking treatment. Police found a mobile phone in the residence of the deceased, and an investigation commenced based on this phone, and finally the accused was nabbed.

Sivan Nair and Prasannakumari hail from Erumeli, Kerala, and have been living in Chennai for the past several years. While Sivan Nair was a Sidha doctor, Prasannakumari was a retired teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya. According to IANS, relatives informed police that 800 gm of gold were missing from the residence of the deceased.

The attack on the couple was reportedly due to several reasons. The disputes include a previous feud between them and a dispute over sending money for the purchase of medicine through Google Pay, as per OnManorama. The motive behind the murder stemmed from the exposure of Mahesh's pornography addiction and his questionable character. According to the police, the perpetrator had an addiction to pornographic videos.

The cops also stated that the accused had previously sought treatment at the clinic, as per the OnManorama report. There were complaints against the accused labourer about his inappropriate behaviour towards women while working at a nearby shop, as reported by OnManorama.

Prasannakumari made efforts to keep Mahesh away from the clinic when he sought treatment. Following complaints against him, he was compelled to leave his job at the shop too. According to the police, he returned to the clinic with a weapon. Investigators have obtained CCTV footage of the accused approaching the house and returning at 5:15 pm.

A woman who had come to consult the doctor around 8 pm on Sunday discovered Sivan Nair’s body on the car porch of their house.
