Chennai: 17-Year-Old Girl ‘Raped By Mother's Paramours’ Delivers Baby. Mother Arrested

The girl was allegedly raped by at least four men in the past, sometimes in the presence of her mother, police said. 

Chennai: A 17-year-old girl delivered a baby in Chennai on Monday, and it was alleged that she had been a rape victim. The minor girl was allegedly raped on several occasions by men who also had relations with her mother, according to a report in the Times of India.

The girl was allegedly raped by at least four men in the past, sometime in the presence of her mother, the report said. 

The Washermenpet All-Woman Police have registered a case against the mother and one of her lovers, and are on the lookout to find the other people who allegedly raped the girl. 

The police identified the 51-year-old arrested paramour as Durairaj of Meenambal Nagar near Kodungaiyur. Durairaj had been reportedly having an affair with the mother for several years, and it was alleged that he used to sexually abuse the minor whenever he came to meet the mother, the ToI report said, adding that the girl was unable to report this to the police because her mother insisted that she remained silent about it.

The rape crimes came to light when the girl delivered a baby in Egmore government hospital on Monday. The hospital on knowing the age of the girl informed the police who then recorded the girl's version.

During the probe, the girl also revealed that she was assaulted by other men too and identified them as Damodharan, Basheer, Jamal, besides a few others who were "involved" with her mother, the report said.

Based on a complaint received from the hospital, the Washermenpet police arrested Durairaj and the mother.
