Yogi Adityanath Visits Ancestral Village, Meets Mother First Time After Being Elected As CM

An official told news agency PTI, “Adityanath, in fact, visited his village for the first time in several years to attend any family function there.”

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited his mother Savitri Devi for the first time after being re-elected to power. Adityanath met his mother earlier on Tuesday during a visit to his native place in Pauri, Uttarakhand, for a family function.

Yogi Adityanath is in his native village for the hair tonsure ceremony of his nephew. This is the first time in years he is visiting his native village for personal reasons. He earlier visited Uttarakhand for political rallies and meetings.

In April 2020, he could not attend his father’s funeral after he passed away due to covid-19.

“I had the ardent wish to get a glimpse of my father at the final moment. However, following a sense of duty towards the state's 23 crore people during the COVID-19 pandemic, I could not do so," Adityanath had said back in 2020.

An official told news agency PTI, “Adityanath, in fact, visited his village for the first time in several years to attend any family function there.”

As per PTI, when Yogi arrived in his native village on Tuesday, he was surrounded by his family members. He first interacted with the younger members of the family and distributed chocolates to them and later spent the night in his ancestral home.

Earlier that day, he unveiled the statue of his spiritual guru Mahant Avaidyanath at Mahayogi Guru Goarkahnath Government College, Bidhyani, Yamkeshwar.
