UP Township Policy 2023 Gets Yogi Adityanath Cabinet's Nod At Key Meeting

As many as 33 key decisions were taken at a key Cabinet meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.

The Yogi Adityanath Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal for the Uttar Pradesh township plan. Under the Uttar Pradesh Township Policy-2023, colonies will be allowed to be set up on plots measuring a maximum of 12.5 acres in towns with a population below 2.5 lakhs. For bigger cities, the township can be spread across 25 acres.

The approval was among 33 key decisions taken at the UP cabinet meeting. Several other decisions, including the nod to establish Mahatma Buddha Agricultural Technology University in Kushinagar and recognising Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyang University, Chitrakoot, as a state university. Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, who is visually impaired, will remain its chancellor for life.

Staffers will be employed under state university rules from now on. Moreover, as much as 50% of the intake will comprise students with disabilities. This will be the second university for students with disabilities, the other being Shakuntala Mishra University.

While sanctioning the plan for the Mahatma Buddha Agricultural Technology University in Kushinagar, the UP Cabinet allocated 390.54 acres and an estimated budget of Rs 750 crore. The foundation will likely be laid in July.

The other key decisions taken at the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet meeting were as follows:

  • An Indo-Israel Center of Excellence for Food will be established at Sirathu in Kaushambi, for research work on Guava, Gooseberries, and Banana.

  • A plantation campaign will be started in July this year. The assessment for previous plantation drives will be done by the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.

  • A proposal for medical colleges on public-private partnership (PPP) mode in Mahoba, Mainpuri, Baghpat, Kasganj, Hamirpur, and Hathras has been approved.

  • The name of Prayagraj National Law University will be changed to Dr Rajendra Prasad National Law University.

  • The State Sports University in Meerut will be renamed Major Dhyanchand Sports University.

  • The Cabinet also approved a proposal for the renovation, revival, and establishment of Sanskrit schools. As much as 95% of the expenditure will be borne by the government and 5% is proposed to be facilitated by the management. There are 357 such schools in the state.

  • Microenterprise accident insurance proposal has been approved. Now, small-scale entrepreneurs can claim accident insurance benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh under the Chief Minister's Accident Insurance Scheme.

  • A helicopter service will soon be started for tourism development in Agra and Mathura.

  • The sugar mill in Mathura, which has been closed since 2009, will be reopened.

  • The UP Cabinet also approved a proposal to celebrate Traders' Welfare Day on June 29, the birth anniversary of fifteenth-century warrior, philanthropist, and close aide of Maharana Pratap.
