Uttar Pradesh: 13-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being 'Beaten' By Teacher Over School Fees
The incident comes close on the heels of the death of a nine-year old Dalit boy in Rajasthan who was allegedly beaten up by a teacher in Jalore district for sipping water from a pot.
New Delhi: A 13-year-old boy, who was allegedly beaten by his school teacher last week, died in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported.
“A 13-year-old student of class 3, who went to a school near his village under Sirsiya Police Sstation limits, died in a hospital in Bahraich on Aug 17. Complain by his uncle states that he was beaten by his school teacher on Aug 8. Case has been filed and probe is underway,” ANI quoted Shravasti SP Arvind K Maurya as saying.
According to the victim’s brother, the boy was beaten after his teacher thought that he failed to pay the school fees.
“My brother was beaten by his teacher because of school fees - Rs 250/month. I had given it online but the master didn't know and my brother was beaten up brutally... his hand was fractured and there was internal bleeding... he killed him,” the deceased’s brother, Rajesh Vishwakarma, said.

According to reports, the victim, a student at a private school in Surana village, Jalore district, was severely beaten on July 20, who later succumbed to his wounds on Saturday at a hospital in Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Chail Singh, the accused instructor, was arrested and charged with murder and violating the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the event on Twitter. "The death of a student due to assault by a teacher in a private school in the Sayla police station area of Jalore is tragic. A case was registered under the section of murder and SC/ST Act against the accused and he has been arrested," he tweeted in Hindi.
