UP Polls: Groom Arrives At Polling Station In Muzaffarnagar Ahead Of Wedding To Cast Vote (WATCH)
The first phase of the UP election covers Jat-dominant belt of western Uttar Pradesh, involving 58 Assembly constituencies across 11 districts of the state.
New Delhi: A bridegroom in Muzaffarnagar on Thursday arrived at the polling booth in his wedding dress to cast his vote in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh elections.
Voting for the first phase of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh began on Thursday at 7:00 am.
"Pehle matdaan, uske baad bahu, uske baad sab kaam, (first voting, then everything else)," said Ankur Balyan, the bridegroom, talking about the importance of voting, news agency ANI reported.
He further stated that he has also told his wife to be to cast her vote before the wedding.

UP Election 2022: 35.03% Voter Turnout Till 3 PM
According to the Election Commission, Uttar Pradesh reported a voter turnout of 35.03 per cent till 3 pm. Baghpat witnessed the highest percentage of voter turnout of 38.03 per cent followed by Agra (37.02 per cent) and Mathura (35.92 per cent).
Muzaffarnagar reported a voter turnout of 35.55 per cent till 3 pm.
The first phase covers the Jat-dominant belt of western Uttar Pradesh, involving 58 Assembly constituencies across 11 districts of the state.

The voting taking place at 25,849 polling stations and 10,766 polling centres, will conclude at 6:00 pm this evening.
Uttar Pradesh assembly election is being held in seven phases, starting from February 10 till March 7. After today, the polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
