Police Find Blood-Stained Clothes, Knife, Blood Marks In Atiq Ahmed's Prayagraj Office. WATCH

Police have found blood-stained knife and clothes as well as blood marks at different places inside the office of gangster Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj, UP who was killed recently by three assailants.

A team of Prayagraj police has found blood-stained knife and clothes, and blood marks in the office of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed in the Chakia area of the town, reported ANI. As per IANS, The police team went there for a routine investigation and found a 'dupatta' with blood stains and some bangles scattered in one of the rooms. They also found blood marks on the staircase. Notably, a portion of the office has already been demolished. IANS reported that the traces of blood are said to be fresh.

Everything in Atiq's office has been found to be messed up. Even in the kitchen, rice and other items were spread haphazardly. There are traces of blood inside the kitchen as well. The clothes in the wardrobe are spread out. The scene suggests as if an attempt was made to find something in the papers as well, due to which the papers are also scattered in the office.

Reacting to the findings, ACP Prayagraj, Satyendra Prasad Tiwari, said, "I have examined myself, bloodstains found near the staircase & next to kitchen...FSL team is about to reach, investigation will be done, CCTV footage will be examined..."

The development comes after the Supreme Court on Monday agreed to list on April 28 the plea seeking the constitution of an independent expert committee under the chairmanship of a former SC judge to probe the killing of mafia brothers Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf amid police presence, news agency ANI reported.

Last week, Atiq Ahmed (60) and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists in the middle of a media interaction, while police were escorting them to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup.

Earlier, a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud took note of the submissions of advocate Vishal Tiwari who mentioned the matter of Atiq Ahmed's murder seeking an urgent hearing. The plea has also sought an inquiry into the 183 encounters that have taken place in Uttar Pradesh since 2017.
