TN: BJP’s Tamilisai Slams DMK Govt As ‘Anti-Hindu’, Calls Global Murugan Conference 'Tactic For Votes'

According to Tamilisai Soundararajan, the DMK's fundamental ideology dismisses the belief in God and mocks those who are religious.

BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has launched a scathing attack on the DMK government, accusing it of being "anti-Hindu." She also criticised the recently held "Global Muthamizh Murugan Conference" as a mere tactic to garner Hindu votes. According to her, the DMK's fundamental ideology dismisses the belief in God and mocks those who are religious.

Talking to PTI, Soundararajan stated, "The basic ideology of this government is that there is no God, and all those believing in God are fools. The present CM (MK Stalin) does not wish Hindu brothers and sisters on festivals, but they themselves are organizing the ‘Global (Muthamizh) Murugan Conference’."

She added, "I must appreciate it, but they are doing this for votes because people are realizing that this government is anti-Hindu. They are doing this to capture Hindu votes without any division."

Global Muthamizh Murugan Conference

The Global Muthamizh Murugan Conference was held last Saturday in the sacred town of Palani, organized by Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Sekar Babu and State Minister R. Sakkarapani. The two-day event celebrated the cultural and spiritual significance of Lord Muruga, a revered deity in Tamil Nadu.

The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by spiritual leaders, including Kundrakudi Ponnampala Adikal, Perur Adheenam Santhalinga Marudachala Adigal, and Mayilam Adheenam. The ministers also hoisted a specially designed flag featuring a rooster, peacock, and spear, symbols that are closely associated with Lord Muruga.

Soundararajan's comments highlight the ongoing political tussle between the BJP and the DMK over religious and cultural identity in Tamil Nadu. The DMK, traditionally a rationalist party, has faced accusations from its political opponents of being anti-religion, particularly anti-Hindu, while it seeks to balance its secular image with the sentiments of its electorate.
