Man Suffering From Mental Illness Held After DCW Chief Maliwal Claims Attack On Her House

Maliwal wrote to Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora flagging an attack at her residence in the early morning.

New Delhi: A 30-year-old man, suffering from mental illness, was detained on Monday for allegedly trespassing Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal's residence and vandalising her cars, police said, as reported by news agency PTI. According to the police, the attacker identified as Sachin, a resident of Nathupura, was found to be suffering from mental illness and has been sent to the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS). He has been booked under the section of trespassing and damaging private property, they said.

Maliwal wrote to Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora flagging an attack at her residence in the early morning.

"A few moments back, an attacker forced his way into my residence and attacked it. He vandalised my mother's car and my vehicle and made an attempt to enter the house," Maliwal said in a tweet in Hindi.

"By the grace of God, my mother and I were not present there. You can do anything but I am not going to be scared. I am complaining to Delhi Police," she said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet in Hindi said, “In the last few months, the law and order situation is in a bad state. Even the chairperson of Delhi Commission For Women is not safe. Murders are happening in broad daylight. I hope that LG sir will spare some time to repair the law and order situation.”

A few days back Swati Maliwal had told that she is getting threats of rape on social media. Maliwal has alleged that ever since she raised her voice against film producer and Bigg Boss contestant Sajid Khan, she is being threatened on various social media platforms.

Earlier, Maliwal released a statement in which she narrated how 10 women made allegations of serious sexual harassment against director Sajid Khan in the #MeToo campaign. She further narrated how the director had allegedly asked some minors to pose nude during auditions to get roles in two of his films.

The DCW chief mentioned that he had complained to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to immediately remove him from Bigg Boss, however, no action was taken on that yet.
