The Special Relief Commissioner of the state promptly dispatched fire services personnel from Rengali and a team from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force Jharsuguda to conduct the rescue operation. Additionally, an NDRF team from Mundali in Cuttack is en route to the bore well site, as confirmed by Gyanranjan Dash, the managing director of Odisha Disaster Management Authority, PTI's report mentioned.
The child was found inside the bore well when locals heard cries. The abandoned bore well is situated in a forest close to Laripali village, and the circumstances leading to the infant's falling into the well remain unknown, the report stated.
While it remains unclear how the infant ended up in the well, suspicions among locals suggest the possibility that the child may have been intentionally abandoned.
Sambalpur's Additional District Magistrate, Pradeep Sahoo, provided an update on the ongoing rescue efforts, stating, "Rescue operation has started, and oxygen is supplied into the bore well. The ODRAF team has dug a parallel pit", as quoted by PTI. He expressed optimism about the prompt rescue of the child.
