10 Dead In Landslide Amid Floods In Tripura, Govt Announces Ex-Gratia Of Rs 4 Lakh To Kin Of Deceased

The state government has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for each affected family. It has urged all citizens to come together and cooperate.

A massive landslide in the Santirbazar subdivision of Tripura has claimed the lives of 10 people. During this disaster, 7 members from two families in Ashwini Tripura Para and 3 members from another family in Debipur were killed, according to Tripura Chief Minister's Office.

The Ashwini Tripura village of Santirbazar subdivision in the Gardang Panchayat experienced a landslide early this morning that buried the homes of two families due to heavy rainfall.

Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the heartbreaking incident, the Tripura CMO confirmed that the state government has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for each affected family.

"A sudden landslide in the Shantirbazar subdivision of Tripura has tragically claimed the lives of 10 people. Seven members from two families in Ashwini Tripura Para and three members from another family in Debipur were killed in the disaster. Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the heartbreaking incident, condolences have been extended to the bereaved families," Tripura CMO told ANI.

"Acknowledging that no amount of compensation can replace the loss, the state government has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs for each affected family. In this time of disaster, the state government has urged all citizens to come together and cooperate. The administration is fully committed to assisting the victims and providing all necessary support to those affected by this calamity," he said.

Manik Saha's Announcement

Tripura CM Manik Shah stated that the state's State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) has been in constant communication with the rescue workers taking care of the injured. "In this difficult time of natural calamity, the administration has been working relentlessly in carrying out rescue & relief operations in the flood-affected areas. The State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) of the state has been maintaining regular contact with the rescue personnel engaged in serving the affected people, "Shah wrote in a post on X.

"Visited this center located in New Capital Complex this evening. At the same time, I advised the concerned workers and officials on the ground to make all-out efforts in helping rescue & relief efforts," he also stated.

Manik Saha wrote on his social media handle X, "Due to the current flood situation, it has been decided that all educational institutions, including Government, Government-aided, and private (Schools, Colleges and State run universities) will remain closed until further notice. A formal notification will be issued shortly".
