'Slapped, Pushed To Ground': Bureaucrat's Son Accused Of Trying To Mow Down Influencer Girlfriend With Car

The victim had said that when she went to meet her boyfriend, who is the accused in the incident, he was behaving in a strange manner, and his friends insulted her.

A 26-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after her boyfriend, who is the son of a senior bureaucrat in Maharashtra, allegedly tried to mow her down with his car near a hotel in Mahaashtra's Thane, police said on Friday, as reported by news agency PTI. The victim has been identified as Priya Singh. She is a model and a social media influencer. 

The incident took place on December 11 and the police registered a case against accused Ashwajit Gaikwad and two others under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 279 (rash driving), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and others at the Kasarvadavali police station.

"The incident took place around 4.30 am on Monday near a hotel on Ghodbunder Road, where the woman had gone to meet Gaikwad. An argument broke out between the two. Later, when the victim collected her belongings from his car and started leaving, the one who was driving the vehicle tried to mow her down, due to which she fell down and suffered serious injuries," a police official said, as reported by PTI.

Priya Narrates Her Ordeal

The victim later put out several social media posts to give information about the incident, the police said. She took to Instagram to narrate her ordeal. As per her Instagram post, the name of the accused is Ashwajit Anil Kumar Gaikwad, and he is the son of Anil Gaikwad, who is the Managing Director at the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. She said that when she met her boyfriend, she found out that he was behaving in a strange manner. She further stated that the accused had slapped her and tried to strangle her, and she was pushed to the ground.

"Early Monday morning at 4am I got a call from my Boytriend (Ashwajit Gaikwad) and I went to see him. He was at a function with his Family and our common friends. Upon reaching there Imet some friends and found that my boyfriend was behaving Strange. So I asked him if everything was fine and insisted him for us to talk in private. I stepped out of The function and waited for him. He along with his friends came outside.I tried talking to him but his friend (Romil Patil) wouldn't let me do that instead started insulting me. This Further Blew up into a heated argument. My boyfriend and his friend used abusive language to which I asked my Boyfriend to defend me and not abuse which led to the Start of something Beyond my imagination," she wrote in her Instagram post.

"My Boyfriend slapped me, tried to strangle my neck, I tried to push him away he bit my hand, beat me, pulled my hair and his Friend out of no where pushed me to the ground.. before I could realise they started walking towards their cars, she further stated.

Priya also alleged that she was threatened to not involve police as the father of the accused Ashwajit, , and she will not be able to do anything.

Priya Undergoing Treatment, Say Police 

The Police has said that victim Priya is undergoing treatment at a hospital at present, as reported by PTI. Talking to media, a senior police official denied the allegations levelled by the victim in her social media post that the police did not register the case as per her statement. "Probe into the incident is underway and no arrest has been made so far," he said, as quouted by PTI.

Three Bones In My Right Leg Are Broken, I Cannot Move My Body: Priya 

Speaking about the incident, Priya said that when she went to meet her boyfriend that night, he got aggressive. She said that they both had a fight, and three bones in her right leg are broken and have been operated on.

Priya Singh said, "I had a four-and-a-half-year relationship with my boyfriend. We were completely in love with each other. I did not know earlier that he was married. Later, when I came to know he told me that they (his wife & him) were not together anymore, they had separated. He said that he wanted to marry me. I was staying with him for a long time. When I went to meet him that night, he was with his wife. I was in shock when I went to talk to him, he got aggressive. We had a fight. Three bones in my right leg are broken, it has been operated on. From my left shoulder to my hips I've deep injuries...I cannot move my body. Four days ago I went to file an FIR, the day all this happened. But no action was taken. Today, when I posted on the social media, the police have supported me today," as quoted by ANI.
