10 Dead In 2 Separate Road Accidents In Maharashtra's Beed District

Four people were killed after an ambulance collided with a truck on its way from Dhamangaon village while six were killed after a bus overturned near Gandhanwadi Phata on Ashti Jamkhed Road.

Ten people were reported dead in two separate incidents of road accidents in Maharastra's Beed district on Thursday. In the first accident, four people were killed including a doctor after an ambulance collided with a truck on its way from Dhamangaon village to the city. In another incident six people were killed after a passenger bus with 40-45 passengers overturned near Gandhanwadi Phata on Ashti Jamkhed Road.

The second incident took place at around 6 in the morning, as per an ANI report.

In another incident of road accident from Karnataka, thirteen people were killed after the SUV they were travelling in crashed into a stationary tanker in Chikkaballapur, said the police.

The accident took place on the outskirts of the district headquarters town of Chikkaballapur at around 7 am, they said, according to a PTI report.

The vehicle was on its way from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru when the driver crashed into the stationary tanker on National Highway 44 killing 13 passengers, including four women.

A preliminary probe into the incident reported that the victims including the driver of the four-wheeler, who was also killed in the accident, belonged to Anantapur district and the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

However, as per a senior police official, low visibility due to fog is also suspected to be one of the reasons which needs to be verified.

The other victims who were killed in the accident hailed from Gorantla in Anantapur district and did not belong to the same family, he said, as per the PTI report.

"Twelve people died on the spot in the accident while one critically injured person who was being treated at a nearby hospital succumbed to injuries. All of them were travelling in the vehicle from Anantapur to Bengaluru and on the way, the vehicle collided with a stationary tanker," D L Nagesh, Superintendent of Police (Chikkaballapur) told PTI.
