'Like Bangladesh, PM Modi's House Will Also...': MP Congress Leaders Stirs Controversy, BJP Demands Action

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha has demanded an action against Congress leaders Sajjan Singh Verma saying a case should be booked against him for the controversial remark.

Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma stirred a controversy after he said that a situation like Bangladesh will happen in India also where people will storm into the house of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress leader remarked in reference to quota protestors storming into the Dhaka residence of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday, hours after her resignation.

Addressing party workers during a protest against alleged scams in the Indore Municipal Corporation, the Congress leader said that after Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, it was India's turn.

"Remember Narendra Modi ji, one day people will enter the Prime Minister's residence because of your wrong policies and will occupy it (PM house). It happened recently in Sri Lanka (in 2022), where people entered the Prime Minister's (President's) house, and then in Bangladesh and now it is India's turn," said the former minister, reported PTI.

Reacting to the comments, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM)'s Indore city president Saugat Mishra along with other members of the saffron outfit submitted a representation to officials at the MG Road police station demanding that a case be booked against the Congress veteran.

BYJM office-bearers submitted the representation against Verma for using "anti-national" language and hurting the sentiments of 140 crore Indians, Mishra said while speaking to reporters.

The Congress leader compared the situation in Bangladesh, marred with large-scale violence and vandalism in the last few days, with that in India giving an "anti-national" statement, he added.

The BYJM leader also claimed that the Congress leaders are trying to stay in media limelight by making such comments.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-3) Ramsanehi Mishra said that a complaint has been registered against Verma by BYJM over his speech during a protest on Tuesday, adding that the complaint will be looked into.

The police official also said that the video footage of the statement will be screened and legal opinion taken before initiating further action in the matter.
