'20-25 Scams Under BJP Rule In Karnataka': CM Siddaramaiah Forms Ministerial Review Panel

Karnataka Home Minister Parameshwara further added that the committee would meet within a week to review the progress of ongoing investigations into the various alleged scams.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has constituted a five-member ministerial committee to review and coordinate actions related to the ongoing investigations into various scams that allegedly occurred during the previous BJP government. The committee is tasked with examining the progress of these probes and ensuring proper coordination between the state government and investigating agencies.

The decision to form the committee comes amid mounting pressure from the BJP, which is calling for Siddaramaiah's resignation over alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

'20 To 25 Scams Identified for Review'

The committee, headed by Home Minister G. Parameshwara, includes Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge, and Labour Minister Santosh Lad, as reported by PTI. The Chief Minister has set a two-month deadline for the committee to complete its review and submit a report.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Home Minister Parameshwara stated, "We have identified all scam-related cases. We will review the status of the investigations and submit a report to the Cabinet." He further added that the committee would meet within a week to review the progress of ongoing investigations into the various alleged scams.

According to Parameshwara, the committee has identified around 20 to 25 scams involving BJP leaders that require thorough investigation. "Wherever the investigation is pending, we will obtain the files and investigate the matters," he noted, as per IANS. The committee will also ensure better coordination between the government and probe agencies and closely monitor the progress of the pending cases.

The formation of the committee signified the Congress government's intention to scrutinise alleged corruption and irregularities that took place during the BJP's tenure in Karnataka, while also addressing the opposition's calls for accountability.
