Giriraj Singh Urges Bihar CM Nitish Kumar To Ban Halal-Certified Products, Calls It ‘Jihad’
Giriraj Singh wrote a letter to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar demanding to impose a ban on halal certificates like in Uttar Pradesh.
Days after the Uttar Pradesh government imposed a ban on halal-certified products, Union Minister Giriraj Singh wrote a letter to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with a similar demand. Giriraj Singh also requested the Bihar CM to take strong action against “divisive and conspiratorial elements”.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader also requested a strict action against "divisive and conspiratorial elements" in Bihar. "I request you to take strict action against such divisive and conspiratorial elements by imposing a ban against the kind of jihad going on in the name of Halal products even in a big state like Bihar," Giriraj Singh further stated in the letter.
The Union Minister cited the example of UP and said, "the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Honorable Yogi Adityanath ji, has taken a strong step and banned the manufacturing, storage, distribution and sale of Halal certified food products with immediate effect by taking action in the entire Uttar Pradesh to stop such conspiratorial and divisive activities."

In the letter, Giriraj Singh said, "Under the Halal business, things which have no connection with Islam are being Islamised. Some institutions have become self-proclaimed in giving Halal certificate and are giving Halal certificate by paying huge amount to the companies manufacturing the goods."
The Minister reiterated that there is a need to impose a ban against the kind of 'jihad' going on in the name of halal products even in a big state like Bihar. "It has been learnt that halal trade of many food items and other essential items like edible oil, snacks, dry fruits, sweets, cosmetics, medicines and medical equipment is going on in Bihar, whereas for certification related to such items is only done by FSSAI," he said in the letter. Singh said that in a secular democracy like India, halal business is "not only against the Constitution but also treason".
"According to statistics, the size of business activities related to halal certification all over the world is about 2 trillion dollars and the link of this form of economy with terrorist activities is also coming to light, which needs to be thoroughly investigated," the minister said. "I request you to take strict action against such divisive and conspiratorial elements by imposing a ban against the kind of 'jihad' going on in the name of halal products even in a big state like Bihar," he added.
