When the police dialed Neetu's mobile number, the report says, it was found to be switched off. Her address was also reportedly found to be fake. After reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with local residents, the police located Neetu, who was arrested while allegedly attempting to flee Delhi with a bag.

During interrogation, Neetu said she hailed from Rajasthan and was married to a drug addict. She reportedly said she moved to Delhi to escape abuse, and began working as a domestic worker in bungalows.

She eventually started a YouTube channel and began uploading Instagram reels as well. Someone suggested to her that she should get a DSLR camera for better video quality. After discovering the high cost of the camera, she sought a loan from relatives but was turned down, the report says. That's when she decided to steal the jewellery, the report says.
