Bharat Jodo Yatra: Amol Palekar, Sandhya Gokhale Join Congress March. Maharashtra Leg To End Today

On the last day of Bharat Jodo Yatra's Maharashtra leg, Veteran actor Amol Palekar and his wife, writer-filmmaker Sandhya Gokhale also joined Rahul Gandhi in Buldhana district.

New Delhi: The Congress party's Bharat Jodo Yatra is set to end its Maharashtra leg on Sunday. The march completed its 74th day today in Buldhana. It began at 6 am from Bhendval in Buldhana after a night halt at Sairam Agro center.

This march, a mass contact initiative of the Congress, began on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu entered Maharashtra on November 7 from the Nanded district, and also covered the Hingoli, Washim, Akola, and Buldhana districts of the state. Rahul Gandhi also addressed two rallies in Nanded and Shegaon in Maharashtra.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has emerged as the main face of the whole march as visuals show a large number of people lined up on the route to greet him are coming and he also interacted with them. Where BJP leaders portray this yatra as the biggest failure of the opposition party, Congress leaders said this will work as a new power generator for the party workers.

In the Maharashtra leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra, several cinema personalities also joined the march and showed their support.

Veteran actor Amol Palekar and his wife, writer-filmmaker Sandhya Gokhale participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra's Buldhana district. The official handle of the Indian National Congress shared photos of Palekar and Gokhale with the Wayanad MP.

"Realising his responsibility towards the country, today famous actor and film director Amol Palekar along with his wife joined #BharatJodoYatra. Thank you for raising the voice of the country," the tweet read.

Previously, cinema personalities such as Pooja Bhatt, Riya Sen, Sushant Singh, Mona Ambegaonkar, Rashmi Desai, and Akanksha Puri participated in the march.

Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Madhya Pradesh from Maharashtra. It will cover Jalgaon-Jamod taluka and conclude its Maharashtra leg with a corner meeting before proceeding to Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh for the night halt, news agency PTI reported.

The foot march will have a rest day on Monday when Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to campaign for the Congress in Gujarat, where the Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on December 1 and 5.
