'Won't Support Building Temple Where Mosque Was Demolished': DMK's Udhayanidhi

Responding to questions on Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya, Udhayanidhi clarified that the DMK was not opposed to any religion or the construction of any temple.

Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin revealed the stand of DMK on Ram Mandir consecration in Ayodhya on Friday. Stating that DMK was not against religion, Udhayanidhi said that they were not against the construction of any temple.

The statement of the Minister comes as DMK is perceived as a party with atheist principles.

Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said"As our leader said not to mix religion and politics. We are not against any temple construction but we don't support building a temple at the place where a mosque was demolished..."

In response to Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami's assertion that attending the Ram temple inauguration was a personal choice, Udhayanidhi took a swipe at the AIADMK, pointing out that the party had sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya during the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Movement.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released Commemorative Postage Stamps on Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir and a book of stamps issued on Lord Ram around the world on Thursday. The six stamps are on the Ram temple, Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman, Jatayu, Kevatraj and Ma Shabri, they said.

Addressing on the release, PM Modi said, "Today, I got the opportunity to join another event organised by Shri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Abhiyan. Today, 6 Commemorative Postage Stamps on Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir and an album of stamps issued on Lord Ram around the world have been released. I want to congratulate the people of the country and all Ram Bhakts across the world..."
