Andhra Cong Chief YS Sharmila Wades Through Floodwater To Highlight Plight Of Farmers, Crop Damages

Sharmila also took the opportunity to inspect the extensive damage caused by the floods to the local farmers.

Congress President YS Sharmila waded waist-deep into floodwaters to highlight the plight of flood-affected residents and the damage to crops in Nandamur village under Tadepalli Rural mandal of West Godavari district. Sharmila also took the opportunity to inspect the extensive damage caused by the floods to the local agriculture, a vital source of livelihood for many villagers.

Addressing the media, Sharmila criticised the central government for neglecting Andhra Pradesh in flood relief efforts. "Looks like the Modi government does not consider Andhra Pradesh to be a part of India. While states like Bihar, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh received additional funds for flood control and rehabilitation; Andhra Pradesh, the state where NDA is in power received no relief for the woes people are facing here due to flooding," she said.

"Let the whole nation watch how flood-hit regions in AP are being treated by both the alliance govemrment where BJP as usual shows its partisan attitude towards the state, while the former chief minister YS Jagan has no time for farmers and floods and is busy conducting a dharna with a personal agenda," she added.

Further, Sharmila demanded that the chief minister attend to this immediately and come to the rescue of farmers. Sharmila's protest also came as Jagan protested in Delhi over alleged violence in Andhra Pradesh.
